Riverside Place, located in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, was one of the most exciting projects we’ve undertaken. Set in the heart of this affluent part of South West London, we demolished the majority of the rear of the building down to its first-floor footplate, preserving only the Victorian façade.
We then constructed four new floors, which contain twenty-six apartments (16 one-bedroom and 10 two-bedroom units), along with A1 retail space at ground floor level, which was swiftly taken by a nationwide retail brand.
Riverside Place allowed us to focus on delivering a high-quality finish tailored to the end users’ budget. We paid great attention to detail, particularly in the kitchen and bathroom fixtures, designed to combine both style and functionality. The incredible location, just a stone’s throw from the River Thames, lined with chic bars and stunning restaurants, and adjacent to the centre of Kingston itself, ensured that these units were eagerly welcomed by the market, with multiple off-plan sales.
The target completion date for this project was May 2021. Although this was delayed due to Covid, we managed to continue working through the pandemic, unlike many developers. Unfortunately, our funding partner went into administration during the build process. This was an enormous shame and very unusual, especially considering that the development was 98% complete. It’s important to note that factors unrelated to our development caused this issue.
